FTUC representatives deliver protest letter to Indian High Commission in support of workers and unions in India
Affiliates of the Fiji Trade Union Congress delivered a letter of protest in support of Unions in India to the Second Secretary to the Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Mr Sahoo this morning at their LICI Building office.
,The protest letter signed by National Secretary, FTUC, Mr Felix Anthony on behalf of the 35 Affiliates of the FTUC, was hand -delivered by Suva based National Executive Board members to the Second Secretary of the High Commission who received it on behalf of the High Commissioner Mr Vishvas Sapkal. Delegates gathered this morning at the FTUC Conference Hall to prepare for the presentation.
The FTUC is planning two more days of action to support the ITUC Global campaign against the Modi Government ,the 2nd one on March 21st and then on 18th April.
Unions in India held national strikes in the month of January to show their dissent to the labour law reforms and minimum wage. The ITUC-AP President and National Secretary, FTUC, Mr Anthony addressed the workers in India with Ms Sharan Burrow, ITUC General Secretary.
